Brief Answer:
Stress management is need of hour

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Any illness with serious symptoms such as bleeding likely to cause serious disturbance in our thinking and behaviour. If there is poor control of symptoms we often tend to think negatively and take lot of stress which further complicates the problem.

Presence of diverticulitis over the last month is really serious problem but at this stage it is important to have positive attitude and optimism. There is valid ground to stay that diverticulitis is treatable illness and I am more than sure that once the source of bleeding identified the bleeding will be stopped and you will feel better.

Having positive attitude and optimism is important as increased stress further complicates the course of disease and increases the duration of symptoms. At his stage in addition to this have al possible means to manage your stress so you have adequate energy to deal with this problem.

I also request you to do not compromise on your activity level and exercise as decreased activity further increases stress and problem. Try to utilise your time in best possible way and follow the instructions of your treating doctor. It is also important to keep yourself engaged with one or another activity so there is little time left to process negative thoughts.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

Brief Answer:
I understand

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

With the available description I feel there is more need to do rather than relying on valium. There are symptoms of depression which should be dealt on priority basis and should not be left alone.

I will recommend you to see a therapist if you think medications are not necessary or may have side effects. Even I will endorse your decision to go for therapy over the medications.

With available positive family history I feel your fears are genuine but I like to make it clear that presence of positive family history do not confer 100% risk to you. There is good chance to get detected any abnormality in early stage and and have great hope to recovery.

I hope this helps you further.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
