What Causes Atherosclerotic Vessel Disease?
Question: My husband has a diagnosis of atherosclerotic vessel disease. The x-ray conclusion reads Small right-sided pleural effusions with right lung base infiltrate. He has an appointment with a pulmonary doctor but not until August, and I'm quite concerned. What are your thoughts?

The xray findings may mean an infection like a pneumonic patch with synpneumonic effusion. This being the commonest though there may be other reasons for these x ray findings.
He needs a course of broad spectrum antibiotics in adequate dosages for adequate duration. Chest xray may be repeated thereafter to see the resolution of pneumonia.
If the findinds persists, he may have to undergo a complete work up which may include blood tests, sputum tests, CT scan and a bronchoscopy beside some other relevant invest if required, to arrive at a diagnosis.
He should see a pulmonologist who can advise the correct course of action.
