What Causes Back Pain And Nausea?
Gastroesophageal reflux
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking health caremagic forum.
I have gone through your query. Your nausea and back pain is most likely due to Gastroesophageal reflux. I usually give long term treatment for my patients. I give combination of proton pump inhibitors like rabeperazole and anti emetic domperidone as sustained release preparation for long term like 1 month to 2 months .Those who not improve with this duration i continue with same treatment.
Antireflux surgery is advised in those who are not getting relief of symptoms and worsening. But the surgery is not so effective in everyone. For some proton pump therapy is needed to continue further.
Lifestyle modification can be helpful for you. Avoid heavy meals. Keep an upright posture till food is digested.Don't lie down before 3 hours folfollowing food intake. Try to avoid fatty foods pickles alcohol and chocolate. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any follow up or further queries. I am happy to help you.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up query.
Long term Gastroesophageal reflux can cause Barret esophagus and ulcers which in some cases go into cancers. It can be ruled out by doing fibrogastroduodenoscopy and biopsies if necessary.
Presence of ulcers can cause various clinical presentation like backpain nausea and abdominal discomfort and pain. In such case pain associated with hunger and early morning pain or night pain is characteristic. In such case i advise sucralfate syrup or tablet before food intake.
In long standing ulcers like in location of duodenum a pancreatitis can be suspected also which also gives a belt like radiating pain to back. In such case an ultrasound examination of abdomen can rule out.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any follow up or further queries.
