Question: I am 58 year old. I have had no major health issues in the past. I had 2 children - albeit over 30 years ago, one by ceserian section and the second naturally. About 12 years ago I slipped a disc and have had problems with my back ever since. from this I have had sever pain in my arm just between my elbow and shoulder. These areas have actually swelled up because of this. I have had various treatments to no avail but I now have deep tissue message regularly and it helps a great deal. However about 3/4 weeks ago I have been experiencing a painful problem. When I have been sitting down and then stand up I have a severe pain in the left groin area and I am stooped for about 30/40 seconds until I can walk the pain off. I am also experiencing a sore pain in my left hip and down my left side, especially when I wake up in the morning. At this stage this is getting me down and tiring me out a lot. can you please help me.

Brief Answer: Get x-ray done. Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your query. Usually back pain is managed with pain-killers till 1 month period. If it persists beyond 1 month, then further investigations are done and you should not take it lightly. Since you have a bad pain I will suggest the following: - You should get x-ray lumbo-sacral spine done in AP and Lateral and for pain in the left groin area get x-ray of pelvis with both hips in AP view, send us report or discuss it with your doctor. You doctor may will do your physical examination and tally all the reports if needed he may advise you MRI scan of spine. - Avoid heavy weight lifting pushing and pulling heavy objects, because it will further increase back pain. - You can take medicine like painkillers + muscle relaxants. I prescribe aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside combinations to my patients. It gives wonderful results. Discuss with your doctor. Until then you can try ibuprofen. - Apply hot packs for 30 min in morning and evening . I hope it helps. You are welcome to ask further health related queries. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
