What Causes Back Pain, Nausea And Vomiting?
Question: My husband awoke with back pain, then nausea and vomiting. What best to get to relieve symptoms/ rehydrate? He is 78 has kidney issues from chemotherapy last year, but has been relatively healthy.
I worry about dehydration, as he is already weak.

Stop giving him any solid foods and give him plenty of liquids. This is the best you can do without doctors help. If you have any antivomiting medicines, you can try them too.
What kind of cancer does he have? His symptoms can be caused directly by the cancer.
Nausea and vomiting along with back pain can be caused by gallstones, pancreas inflammation, kidney infection. It is possible that he may have bowels obstruction as well. In such case, lack of stool and gas along with bloated abdomen are characteristic.
You need to call his doctor for sure. He needs proper diagnostics and treatment. Abdominal x-ray, ultrasound, blood work and urine analysis should be done for sure. He needs to get some drips otherwise his kidneys may stop working.

Thank you. He is much better. No major discomfort other than gas since early a.m. Has been taking fluids all day then a very light meal this evening. Will be seeing doctor tomorrow to follow up. Did not/does not have a fever, and much improved.
May request ultrasound to see if any other issues.
