Brief Answer:
Infection can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

When was the gallbladder surgery done? Do you have diarrhea?

Such symptom usually does not appear if everything went fine. However, in case of infection, you may notice such symptom. It can indicate that there is some fluid collection (hematoma or abscess) in the abdomen (caused by the surgery). You may also notice excessive sweating, abdominal pain or lack of appetite.

This is possible especially if the surgery was recently.

I suggest you to consult your doctor, have abdominal ultrasound, blood work (including CBC and CRP) and urine analysis done.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

I have no pain; so would there be an infection, abcess or fluid without
pain? The odor seems to come mainly from my chest area. Sort of
like when you eat raw onion and later get a smell of onion on your clothes
in the lungs area.

Brief Answer:
Still infection is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Still an infection is possible.
Its also possible that this comes from the improper digestion. Indigestion, diarrhea, some acid reflux or even bad smell can appear and do last for 3 months after the surgery.
If the surgery has been done recently, you may wait this 3 months to see if it improves or not.

I am sorry the date of operation was not included. It has been two years
since surgery and this odor started about 3 months ago. I kept trying to
get an answer, to no avail, and then I came across your website today and
decided to try asking a question here. - Is it possible that the odor is a
result of the surgery this long afterwards or could there be another cause?
Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
This is not from the surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Well, you can not blame the surgery. Its almost impossible that gallbladder surgery could cause body odor 2 years after it was done. Not at all.

You may rather find the other possible reason of such symptoms. It can be due to sweating, diet, liver disease or kidney disease.
It would be good to have some basic tests done to rule out kidney and liver issues. Blood work and urine analysis can do that.
