To my daughter, 11, son, 8, wife. Till I do not get tempered I am the best father, husband, son of world.
The fact is how and when I lose my patience I could not understand. I happen at once and my action is realized by me when I scolded someone. My anger is not in my control. It bursts without thinking. Kindly guide me.It is pertinent to say that I do not notice or lose temper on big loss or big happening.
is there some stress? provide more information.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXX,
Thanks for writing to us.
I appreciate your efforts to accept your problem of excessive anger.
Loosing temper is a sign of stress. Any person who is suffering from more stress (which is ultimately called distress) can suffer from such problem.
This distress may lead to depression.
So let me know,
- Do you feel that are you having any stress (social, occupational, economical, relationship, emotional)?
- Do you have any of the symptoms - low/sad mood, less interest in daily routine, increase or decrease sleep, increase or decrease appetite, lack of concentration, easily fatigue, hopelessness, worthlessness, death wishes? Or any one of these symptoms has been noticed by persons around you in you?
Other possibility of intermittent explosive disorder in which person get angry on minor provocation and after anger outburst he/she realizes that anger is not needed and felt guilt over the same.
Both situation is evaluated and diagnosed by psychiatrist. They are absolutely treatable conditions.
I will be happy to help further after your response.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thanks for answers and sorry for delayed response.
Yes reply to most of the symptoms suggests that you are likely suffering from depression. And higher death wishes thoughts suggest that you have been suffering since long.
For confirmation of diagnosis detail history and mental status examinations are to be done by a psychiatrist.
Depression can be treated.
Treatment of depression includes both medicines and psychotherapy.
In psychotherapy I prefer cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).In mild cases only CBT is sufficient. In moderate to severe cases initially medicines and then CBT is added. And later on medicines stopped gradually.
In medicines SSRI group of drugs (fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, escitalopram) are main stay of the treatment.
Benzodiazepines group of drugs (clonazeapm, lorazepam or etizolam) are used initially for short duration for fast symptomatic relief.
When there are active thoughts of dying ECT (electro convulsive therapy) is good option.
Please consult psychiatrist without any hesitation as soon as possible to recover early.
Feel free to discuss further.
