Brief Answer:
Seem to have developed black hairy tongue

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph.
You seem to have developed black hairy tongue. It is a coating on the surface of the tongue seen in persons on soft nonabrasive diet, having poor oral hygiene or are fasting. Habits such as tobacco and betel use and various medicines such as iron and chlorhexidine can cause a black or brown superficial staining of the tongue.
Occasionally a brown hairy tongue may be caused by drugs that cause dryness of mouth or certain antibiotics.
The condition normally improves if a person avoid habits or drugs that cause staining of the tongue, increase standard of oral hygiene, brush the tongue with a hard toothbrush and chew gum. It has been seen that topical application of tretinoin is also effective in this condition.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
