Question: can I send you a picture of my 19 year old daughters throat. She was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday and today she woke up with a black spot on her tonsil. The tonsil has white drainage around the black hole.

Brief Answer:
this does not look like a strep infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

From the picture that you have attached it is unlikely that your daughter is having a strep infection.

Although i have not examined her , this looks more like a traumatic ulcer or vincets angina , and i would like you to meet an ent doctor for the same.

The doctor will examine your daughter and may take a throat swab to culture the exact organism causing the infection to decide on appropriate antibiotics.

Meanwhile i would like you to continue amoxicillin and mouth rinses till you meet your doctor.

Take care!
