What Causes Black Spots In Vision?
Question: I am seeing black spots now a days.
I have been observing this from 7 to 8 months...
I used to see them earlier also but usually they used to disappear after some time. but now these spots Dont.... where ever I see this spots float there.
since one year I am doing an IT job which involves working in shifts... prolong exposure to monitor screen. I think number of my eyes also has increased. I am 25 years old. please can u tell me the reason, remedy and severity of this phenomenon.

It seems from the history that you are having problem of seeing black spots for 7-8 months.
These are called as floaters and usually occur because of opacities in the vitreous,a viscous liquid layer which lies behind the lens. These opacities are usually seen in people with refractive errors, with ageing, following injury or inflammation.... But these can be seen without any reason also hence no need to worry.
Floaters by themselves are not harmful and does not require any treatment. However sudden increase in floaters or floaters associated with flashes of light require examination of retina by a ophthalmologist as these may indicate vitreoretinal traction, retinal thinning , peripheral retinal degenerations, retinal tear.... These conditions require prophylactic treatment by laser if present.
These floaters are not related to your IT job and prolonged exposure to computer monitor.
Hence I advice you not to worry as most of the times these floaters are not harmful and may not require any evaluation or treatment. But I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist once for fundus examination of retina to rule out any retinal problem. Other than this retinal examination no treatment is required.
Rarely when the vitreous opacities are very problematic interfering with the vision these can be treated by laser vitreolysis.
