What Causes Black Stool After Tooth Extraction?
Question: Black stool after tooth extraction. Also i was diagnosed as having internal hemerroids
Swallowed blood
Swallowed blood
Brief Answer:
Black stool can be caused by intense bleeding from extracted tooth.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Is the stool black like a tar? Or just dark brown?
Black like a tar stool appears if it contains digested blood. Such blood can come from tooth, esophagus, stomach or duodenum. In all this cases the stool is black.
So if you have swallowed pretty much of the blood, this can be the reason. However if this was only a small part of the blood, it could not cause black stool.
In such case, gastroscopy is advisable.
Hemorrhoids do not cause black stool. Just a trace of red blood in the stool.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
