Needs urgent evaluation and investigations for proper diagnosis management.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query about your grand-daughter who is 19 year old.
Black tarry stools starting on Saturday afternoon - pink color today - upset stomach - vomited water - tried feeding light breakfast - gave water to drink ...
Black tarry stools and pink stools are a definite indications of bleeding somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract.
Vomiting can be reflex phenomenon secondary to any GI issue or may be due to the condition that caused tarry stools.
I would request you the following:
Take the child to ER or a Pediatric Surgeon as she needs urgent clinical evaluation, examination and investigations:
Stool tests - occult blood, routine
Tests of blood and urine.
X-ray of the whole abdomen in standing position to see for any obstruction, intususception.
Ultrasound of the whole abdomen.
Needs admission and management as per preliminary assessment and may need replacement of blood, fluids, Barium enema is intususcetion is suspected as diagnostic as well as therapeutic.
I hope this answer helps you grand-daughter well; please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
