What Causes Bladder Incontinence And Constipation Post Cholecystectomy?
Question: My husband had open surgery for gallbladder removal with complications taking 4.5 hours 5 days ago. He is type 2 diabetic and has prostate probs also. He is coping quite well on his meds for pain except for pain in his groin and back pain. Is this usual and can anything be done to help? He also has bladder incontinence and no bowel movement for 3 days. He is taking laxatives with his other meds. Just the groin and back pain very uncomfortable for him. Many thanks! XXXX
Brief Answer:
Reassurance;supportive care
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking to HCM.
Bladder incontinence and absent bowel movements are likely related to the anesthesia given during the surgery and preexisting prostate issues.
I would recommend tab.urispas 100mg twice in a day for bladder incontinence.Back pain and groin pain are nonspecific though in the post operative period(for few days).Hopefully he ll get relief with effective pain killers like inj.tramadol,inj.phenergan etc in the forthcoming days.Discuss the above with his doctor and act accordingly for his early recovery.
Hope my answer helped you.If any further doubts, feel free to ask.
Regards
