What Causes Bleeding After Taking Levonelle?

Question: Hi,
I took levonelle on the 09th of August, 2 days later I had minor bleeding for 4 days. I am due to get my period any day and have some pink/brown discharge. What could this be due to?

I understand your concern..

Levonelle is an emergency contraceptive which should be taken within 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse.. It reduces the chances of pregnancy by 89%.

One of the common side effect is menstrual irregularity. It either causes early periods, delayed periods or intermenstrual spotting..In your case minimal bleeding seen after taking the tablet was withdrawal bleeding. Spotting can be intermenstrual spotting. Periods might also get delayed. Dont worry the periods become regular by next cycle.

If you dont get your periods after 7 days, then get a urine pregnancy test with early morning urine sample just for confirmation.
