What Causes Bleeding From Belly Button Post Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy?
Question: I had a lap chole yesterday around 6pm. Just now I noticed a smell. When I looked at y belly button it was shiny and when I wiped it wit a tissue it was slightly yellow slight blood stained and very smelly. What should I do

Are you in the hospital or at home?
Was not the wound covered with dressing ?
Are there any other symptoms of pain in abdomen / bloating / fever or so ?
As per your history the diagnosis is very obvious.
Smelly, yellowish blood stained discharge is obviously an infection causing the area shiny due to inflammation.
I would advise you to consult your Surgeon Nurse immediately.
You mat need to have a stitch removed and the wound drained, cleaned with Liquid Povidone iodine and hydrogen peroxide.
Also need to be put on another antibiotic and have twice daily dressing.

Hi I seen my practice nurse yesterday morning. She said it looked ok and was just ooze from surgery. Dress was with invading and no further ooze since. Thank you. I was discharged yesterday early afternoon. Approx 18 hours post surgery
