What Causes Bleeding From Nipples After An Injury To Breast?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, six weeks ago I tripped and fell on the sidewalk very hard on my left breast. I had alot of bruising. The other day I squezed my nipple and I had light brown discharge. I had an ultrasound and the radiologist sees some changes in my breast that could be from a hematoma but she has ordered a biopsy and a ductogram I have the appointment in a few days but the waiting is hard. Of course cancer is always on my mind. What is your opinion.

Brief Answer:
Not due to cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a direct injury to the breast tissue with visible bruise and hematoma mild amount of blood discharge from nipple is normal. It is best to get the investigations done as advised but the cause is not likely to be cancer. So please do not worry.
I hope this answers your query.
