What Causes Bleeding From Right Ear After Cleaning It With Cotton Bud?
Question: I was cleaning my rt ear with a ear cleaning bud suddenly it slipped and touched the diapragam a felt little pain but it vanished in a sec or two. After that I cleaned it with safety during that I found blood on the tip of cotton on the bud. I found blood was coming out from my rt ear and 24 hrs has passed it is not clotting I am using cottons to stop and block the blood but of no use. What should I do now. ENT Spec list is far about 40 km. Pl advice me rt now

1. The skin of the ear canal is delicate and easily damaged while cleaning.
2. If the blood is not clotting and not stopping even after 24 hours, you must see the ENT Specialist without delay.
3. Normally the blood would clot and stop with a light pressure from a piece of cotton. Reasons for continued bleeding include severe trauma, a ruptured ear drum, granulation tissue, clotting problems, ear wax, foreign body, infection and so on.
4. This can be easily diagnosed bu otoscopy (examination of the ear). Treatment can then be started accordingly. Do not use any ear drops till the ear is examined.
5. You may follow up here after your examination.
