default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jul 2016
Question: I am a male, 80, circumcised at birth. My skin is so thin that I can wake up in the middle of the night with a bloody penis. I have used Neosporin, which helps in about 24 hours but it happens regularly.

Brief Answer:
Easy bleeding from anywhere on skin is worrisome, get examined.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr Storm,

Thank you for writing in with your health concern.

Bleeding easily, repeatedly from anywhere on the skin is worrisome and could indicate mild to serious problems, including skin cancers.

Temporary relief following the application of neosporin could just be because of temporary blockage of small blood vessels in the affected area by the powder/ointment.

In my humble opinion, you need to get yourself examined by a urologist and skin specialist at the earliest to rule out cancer.

If that is ruled out, other possibilities like allergy/eczema can be considered and if confirmed, can be treated with local steroid applications very easily.

I hope this answers your query, please do feel free to revert to me if you have any additional concerns.

Wishing you speedy recovery and good health.

Warm regards
