Brief Answer:

Could be due to Enlarged Prostate or infection of bladder (Cystitis)

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Blood in urine in an elderly man of 68 years old is most commonly due to Enlarged Prostate or second common cause is an infection of the bladder (Cystitis).

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.

1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Uroflowmetry.

Further treatment will depend upon the result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
