What Causes Bloating, Nausea, Epigastric Pain, Coated Tongue And Bitter Taste In Mouth?
My name is XXXX - I have for some months now been experiencing nausea, gas, and an uneasy stomach intestinal area - I also have a bloated stomach at all times - In the morning I wake with a white coated tongue and terrible stale taste in my mouth - I tongue scrape first thing for this reason. My bowel habit is regular (first thing on getting out of bed in the morning I go to the bathroom and have a bowel motion) I have trouble keeping my normal weight - Where I used to only have to look at food and the weight would follow. When I have the nausea (daily) I take a D-Gas tablet which eliminates the gas and frees my symptoms.
I don't experience any pain at all - The feeling usually feels like a slight burning sensation and I get the
rumbly stomach which can happen soon after consuming a meal.
I feel I have a good balanced diet - With the occasional go off the rails meal or you might also call a treat.
I look forward to your thoughts.
Weight led to GERD, Lose t and GERD will poof away
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. The doctor who mentioned acid reflux as the cause of your symptoms was right in his perspective. All your bloating , nausea, distension and epigastric discomfort with scrappy coated tongue and bitter taste in mouth are attributed to that gastric acid reflux .
You are right as well. Weight gain is responsible for all that. Weight gain is the commonest cause of acid reflux and all your symptoms including acid reflux ( GERD) can go away with losing weight.
Losing weight can be a challenge sometimes. it needs a lot of management and calories intake. Restrict yourself to 1500 kilocalories a day and eat low carb high protein diet. Reduce fats, dairy intake, chocolates, alcohol and beverages, coffee, sugary beverages and spices etc. Prefer fiber and drink plenty of fluids. Infact drinking 2 glasses of chilled water before meal itself can reduce satiety and help you lose weight. Apart from it you can do exercises and there is no better exercise than running at the pace affordable for at least 30 to 45 minutes a day. Sign up to an FDA approved weight loss program and let them help you in this regard.
For the acid reflux symptoms meanwhile take some prilosec and pepto and eat small frequent meals, avoid all the above mentioned foods , delay lying down after last meal for at least 2 to 3 hours. Keep the head side of the bed elevated for at least 8 inches.
talk to your gastroenterologist and let them help you in this regard.
I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

am endeavouring to follow my doctors and your advice - I have started taking a good probiotic along with watching my spicy intake of food (in the past I have enjoyed) maybe too much so.
I may not have made myself clear with my initial symptoms but I am not overweight but am dropping weight without dieting - that is my concern - My doctor didn't seem too concerned as he felt it wasn't excessive weight loss.
Can this also be a sympton of Acid Reflux or digestive issues when one has weight
loss? and if so will I gain back a little weight once I have been on a stricter eating
regime?
Gastritis ( inflammation ) / GERD. Weight loss can still cause it.

Thank you for getting back to me
Now that you mentioned your previous spices food preference, gastric discomfort like gastritis and acid reflux are the commonest and more likelier differentials treatment of both is same. Antacids, proton pump inhibitors etc.
Losing weight should be calibrated. For example calculating your BMI and if it lies less than 25 and more than 20 then you are in a perfectly healthy range and nothing to worry about. If you are more than 25 in BMI then losing weight is rather healthy for you.
Yes with weight loss even acid reflux can happen and can happen more commonly with use of spices in past as that makes it gastritis ( inflammation of gastric mucosa) and that present just like the same sore taste, bitter coated tongue, bloating etc. Diet and lifestyle modifications are the same as discussed above.
And yes gaining weight is easy .Losing it is a challenge. Learn how to calculate your BMi and then calculate your calorie intake. I would say stick to 2000 to 2500 kcal a day.
I hope it helps.
