Brief Answer:
Needs to be seen by
Neurologist or Neurosurgeon
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX I'm so sorry to hear about your fathers stroke. Unfortunately
blood clots in the brain have been known to happen after a person suffers from a
Myocardial Infarction (Heart Stroke).
I am going to assume that your father was NOT kept on Blood thinners like
clopidogrel,
aspirin or clexane because of the need for the CABG and the fear of bleeding after the surgery.
Now that the blood clot is present in the brain and the vision in the left eye has been affected. The first thing that would be useful to do is a scan of the brain to see how big the clot is and where it is. So If at all possible, could you upload any scans of your fathers head or brain. It would be a
CT scan or an MRI.
Another cause of these kinds of issues is blockage of the arteries which supply blood to the brain (They are called the Carotid Arteries). If these arteries are blocked, strokes are very common. A doppler
ultrasound of the neck can check the carotid arteries and rule this out. If he has already had that test, upload it too, so i can help you understand it.
Also, at this point I do strongly believe that your father should be admitted and observed for several days to make sure that if such a thing happens again, the medical team can intervene quickly. Eventually once the surgical area heals and the he is stable, the doctors will want to discuss with you about putting him on blood thinners which will lessen the chances of this happening again.
So to sum up. Please upload you fathers scans which are related to the bloodclot in his head and eye and I will do my best to help you understand them. Also upload his doppler studies if they have been done. Secondly, please make sure your father is admitted or at least close-by to a good hospital so if another stroke occurs he can be managed immediately. Lastly, try and talk to his primary doctor about starting him on blood thinners so as to lessen the chances of another stroke.
