What Causes Blood Coming From Calf On Aspiration?
Question: Hi, XXXXXXX here. Had a swelling in my left calf , there was no clots identified and my ortho with drew a large amount of blood just outside the calf muscle. He "guessed" it was a busted Bakers cyst but nothing I read talks about blood. Unsure of the proper amount but it filled two needles like what you give to a joint with Kenalog. any ideas ?

If still diagnosis is not confirm-MRI will help
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have studied your case,
Blood coming from calf on aspiration indicate hematoma collection.
You may need to know reason of blood collection.
Bakers cyst ruptured can look like thick viscous blood.
You can confirm diagnosis by sending aspirate for histopathological diagnosis.
If still diagnosis is not confirm MRI will help in diagnosis along with ultrasound of swelling.
