What Causes Blood Coming From Mouth?
Question: hi doc, I wake up in the morning and found blood with while spitting it went off after spitting 4-5 times.I have very minor pain in my throat also.I m fasting for ramzaan as well. please suggest.

The blood coming from mouth can be from sputum that is Hemoptysis and also from vomitus (Hemetemesis).
I would like to know following:
1. Is the blood in sputum?
2. Any gastritis?
3. Any fever? Weight loss?
4. Any pain killer you recently consumed?
5. Any history of pulmonary Tuberculosis?
6. Blood was with cough or vomiting s?

hi doc,
1) I had blood in sputum, and slight pain in throat,
2)no gastritis
3) no fever, no weight loss
4)no I didn't take any pain killer recently
5)no history of TB
6) blood came while normally spitting while taking bath.
also I just consulted a doc please find attached the prescription

I have reviewd your prescription. Your doctor is treating you for Acute Upper Respiratory Tract Infection that can also cause blood in sputum.
You can start on the treatment and if you again get blood in sputum then I would advise you to get investigated.
Get following:
1. Xray Chest
2. Hemogram with ESR
3. Coagulation Profile.
If you don't get a repeat episode you should simply continue with the advised treatment for 5 days.
