What Causes Blood In Stool, Diarrhea And Vomiting?
throwing up low pain in stomach still have direia and blood in stool. Should I return to Doctor
if no change in frequency of bowel movements or weakness/dizziness
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Vomiting, diarrhea are most commonly due to infection of the gastrointestinal tract which is usually bacterial or viral.
Parasite or fungal infections can also occur but are not as common.
Blood in the stool may indicate bacterial infection though can be viral in some cases.
If the frequency of bowel movements is not decreasing or there is increased bleeding, then you should return to your doctor.
In addition if you feel very weak or dizzy, you should also be reviewed.
A stool analysis may be needed along with additional medication.
If you notice a slight decrease at stool frequency then the infection may be running its course and you can continue as you are doing:
(a) holding off solid food
(b)using a lot of fluids preferably oral rehydration solutions or dilute pedialyte
(c)probiotics to help restore normal flora of intestines
(d)pepto bismol may also help
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
