What Causes Blood In Stool While Treating Gonorrhea?
Question: Could I have gotten gonorrhea 15 years ago, and just now have a slightly bloody discharge, on one occasion only, very recently? I have had pelvic pain, undiagnosed for years (thought I had a hernia, lower right quadrant, but don't). I have recently been diagnosed with arthritis in my knees, and have cardiac problems (since 1994), also arthritis in my thumb, along with carpal tunnel in wrists, that one Dr. says I have, and another says I don't have. One says it's ulnar nerve damage - worked at Post office for 20 years.
Recently thought I was having another heart attack, EKG was normal, so was checked for Gall Bladder stone -Negative , but gallbladder contracting and causing gastritis. I have periods of rapid pounding heartbeat, rise in blood pressure and rapid pulse, also unable to diagnose. Also have had sudden progressively worsening vision problems.
My last boyfriend (15 years ago) was cheating on me with at least three other women, and daily with a known prostitute that was servicing all the men she could at work on her lunch break for $00.00 a pop. He was caught being serviced by her in the office at work. I had myself checked for HIV, but mistakenly thought
that if I caught anything else I would know it by showing some kind of discharge or symptom. Also thought he might tell me- wrong. Could These problems be due to gonorreah ? And if so, what is the likelyhood of my problems being reversed. Have appt. tomorrow for testing, but Dr. not likely to spend any time with me explaining anything, nor listening to my problems.

Brief Answer:
New to investigate for other cause
Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us
I am Dr. kakkar(dermatologist& venereologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
Acute gonorrhea in females may present with purulent vaginal discharge which may be blood stained as well as with burning micturation Or the infection may be entirely asymptomatic in carrier females. However, in a sexually inactive female in menopause, blood stained discharge need to be properly looked at for other causes first, particularly in view of cervical cancer. I suggest a Pap smear and pelvic examination.

Oh,yes, that was the first thing I did. Pap normal. They also did an intravaginal ultrasound and checked inside cervix for endomitriosis. Also negative, but caused bleeding from my uthrea (or bladder). Then they did a urinalysis (cultured)- because they didn't believe I know which hole the blood was coming from. Test positive for blood in urine, but negative for cancerous cells. I think the Dr. caused bleeding because he rubbed against the previous hernia repair mesh, which was damaged by another Dr. during a laproscopy. He filmed that procedure, and was having difficulty cutting through a section, when a silver ring appeared. I started bleeding heavily, the tape cut out, and started back with him closing-up after the procedure. He would not discuss this with me (said he was busy with another patient), and later referred me to another GYN, and would not allow me to schedule further appointments with him. That was in 1994, and I have been having pain there ever since. Other Dr.s just feel around, and tell me I don't have a hernia. Recent CT scan was done for the gall bladder issues and to check for tear in aeorta, and since it captured this area, am trying to find a Dr. that will address this issue. They all claim that their computer doesn't have a dvd slot with which to read the scan. (Have seen several Dr's about this.) A radiologist suggested I get an MRI that requires me to drink a lot of water before hand (can't remember the exact name right now, but I have it written down. When I mention this to these Dr.s, they ignore me, and do other tests (ie: the intravaginal ultrasound....) I think the original GYN Dr. caused ragged edges on the hernia repair mesh, which has been causing my pain.
Prior to these recent tests, I did have a slightly pink vaginal discharge with no odor. Only the one time. Now they have decided to do a cystoscopy, since discovering I do not completely empty my bladder after urinating. (200 cc's retained) They just do not want to address the issue, and seem to find things to distract me from my original question.
Any suggestions appreciated. I did go to my GP for blood work to rule out STD's to address the discharge, will take a week for the results. I do think the discharge and sharp abdominal pains are separate issues.
Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
Follow up with me along with the screening test result
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up question.
Though Gonorrhea can cause vaginal bleeding (mostly intermenstural) but that is not very common. On the other hand it is very common for Gonorrhea to cause increased vaginal discharge. Your urine test did suggest that the blood came from the urinary tract rather than vagina/ cervix therefore, I suggest you to go ahead with the cystoscopy as that would perhaps delineate the exact cause of bleeding. Anyways the STD screening that you recently underwent would let us know if you have Gonorrhea after so many years (I doubt you have!)or it is something else.

Thank you for your advice.
Recent results from the Uro/GYN (3rd Dr.) shows no more blood in urine, which just confirms to me that the intravaginal ultrasound caused the bleeding by rubbing against the hernia mesh. Will proceed with the Cystoscopy. Have not received the results of the STD blood work, but recent of self sample mucus from "up there" is still off color, but not pink (yellow). I do believe these to be two separate issues.
Thanks again for your help.

Brief Answer:
Will await the STD sceening test result.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Perhaps the vaginal discharge is due to a bacterial infection which can happen otherwise in a sexually inactive female Or may be due to vaginal atrophy and irritation due to lowered estrogen levels..Kindly update me with the results of screening test whenever they become available. I will wait for that.

Thank you. I expect the results hopefully by this Friday. Will be wanting to long-term complications...if comes back positive. Since I believe I am also having a relapse with my Lyme disease, am almost hoping it does come back positive so they will give me antibiotics. They refuse to treat me for my relapses, which always cause the sudden weight loss and fatigue. It's horrible.
I have already scheduled another GYN appointment to check mt hormone levels-but can't get in until Oct. 9th. This Dr. previously suggested a hysterectomy even though no endomitriosis was found, and I was not having pain or bleeding from the vagina (other than the one time pink spotting). I thought that was a little drastic. His procedure (intravaginal ultra sound) is what caused the blood in urine. Then was referred to the second physician, who is going to do the cystoscopy.
The cystoscopy is scheduled for Sept.11th, and her last exam has caused the "hernia repair" location to hurt a lot worse. (two different doctors) Hopefully this Dr. will be able to address the issue sooner.

Dr. has received test results (Wed.) but has not allowed nurse to give me the results until he has reviewed them. I called Thursday, and Friday with no results. They are probably closed Monday, for Labor Day, so I'm going to go there Tuesday and insist on answers.
Thanks for your support. It means a lot to me.
