Brief Answer:
Hemorrhoid is a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Some of the causes of bright red blood in stool are hemorrhoids, anal fissure, polyps, colitis and colorectal malignancy.

Taking your age in to consideration and the associated symptoms, hemorrhoid is the most likely cause.
Digital rectal examination and a proctosigmoidoscopy may be done to confirm the diagnosis.
Take high fiber diet and drink lot of fluids to facilitate good bowel movements which would prevent worsening of hemorrhoids.

I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
