Question: My wife has been coughing a lot over the last 2-3 months. Recently, she noticed bright red blood in her stool. Can the two be related in any way. She went to see her physician today and they scheduled her for a diagnostic colonoscopy.

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to your wife having lot of coughing for last 2-3 months, recently had red blood in stool.
Both these things are not directly related to each other.
They can be indirectly related.
Coughing for such a long time persistently increases inta-andominal pressure which may lead to hemorrhoids which in turn can be the reason for Blood instool.
lit is good to know thagap of communication.
she is scheduled for Colonoscopy.
