default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: i have blood in my semen and have seen a uroligist and he examined my prostate and it was fine. Also did a ct scan where they looked for cancer also came negative. I was on finesteride for five years with 1mg per day as treatment for losing my hair but have now stopped taking it for the last year. The blood in the semen comes and goes for the last 12 months but i notice a fishy odour on my penis even afer having a shower.

Brief Answer:
Hematospermia, an idiopathic condition

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

Based on the information, prostate is not the cause of blood in the semen and report suggest your prostate is also fine.

You may have condition known as Hematospermia, it is idiopathic and most cases the cause will be unknown.

Apart from this it is better to rule out inflammation of seminal vesicles and urinary tract infections.

About the fishy odor, it is difficult exactly say what it is without examination, presently i would suggest you to apply liquid povidone iodine to the glance, shaft and fore skin, observe for the improvement.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,
