What Causes Blood In Urine Along With Penis Bleeding During Ejaculation?
I have blood in my urine originating from my prostate (diagnosed by my urologist)
It only happens at the beginning of my first urination of the day when I get up in the morning - rest of day clear. Also just today blood from penis after ejaculating. Any way to avoid invasive surgery? I have mild BPH and apart from this bleeding my symptoms don't bother me too much - hence the desire to avoid a TURP or similar. Thanks for your help.
dutasteride could help
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I hope your Urologist has ensured that you have no other trouble in your urinary tract other than the prostate which is only of the many sources of bleeding. If your urine flow rate is good, and ultrasound or CT scan have not shown any anomaly, and there is no significant evidence of infection, you can continue Flomax. You also could benefit from use of dutasteride at 0.5mg once daily, available as avodart. It has a tendency to reduce the vascularity of an inflamed prostate by reducing the local expression of a gene which promotes blood vessel enlargement and in large prostates will reduce the size gradually.
If there is any sign of prostate infection, addition of drugs like ciprofloxacin or Levoflox for the next one month could also be useful in reducing inflammation and thereby bleeding from prostate.
If urine flow rate is good, it is extremely unlikely that you will need surgery for prostate, rest assured.
Hope I have been of help.
Best wishes.
