What Causes Blood In Urine During Second Trimester?
Kindly give some more clear information
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
How many weeks pregnant are you? From your notes it is not clear you went to the doctor to do which test. Was it urine examination? Was there blood in the urine?
Did the urine test result say borderline for presence of blood? If there is blood in urine sample then it is suggestive of infection. You need to do urine for culture sensitivity first. If no infection is found other causes like kidney stones need to be looked into.
Are you leaking water / blood through vagina?
Are you having pain abdomen? Was any ultrasound done?
Can you please reply to the above questions so that we can help you better?
I am waiting for your reply.
Urine culture sensitivity test to find the right antibiotic to be taken
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As I wrote before the most common cause for blood in urine is infection. Urinary infection should not be neglected specially in pregnancy as if not treated properly it can cause the labor to occur early.
I suggest that you do a urine culture sensitivity test to find out the right antibiotic to be taken. A week after completing the course of antibiotics you need to repeat the urine culture sensitivity test as some microbes are nasty and take more time to be eliminated. Drink plenty of urine. Pass urine once every 3 hours at least.
I would like to share with you one more important information. If the microbe detected is Group B streptococci, you need to receive antibiotics during your delivery too.
You are still very young. Attend for antenatal check up regularly to find out at the earliest if any pregnancy problem arises.
Avoid smoking and alcohol ( if you are smoking or taking alcohol). Take iron tablets/vitamins/calcium prescribed by your doctor.
Use condom while having sex to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases which can hurt your baby.
I hope I have answered your concerns. If you have any further concerns do write to me. If you have no further queries please close the discussion.
Take care.
