What Causes Blood In Urine Of An Infant?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: I just noticed a tiny drop of blood on my 6 week old baby boy's diaper upon changing him, first time it has happened. The amount is exactly the size of the hole where his urine comes out and is on the diaper where his penis lays. Is there cause for concern or something I should do/be doing?

Brief Answer:
You can wait unless he's uncomfortable

Detailed Answer:
Hi....I suggest you can wait unless he's uncomfortable. I assume that he's his usual self and feeding well and urinating well as you didn't mention any such things in your query.

But if this thing repeats again/ he's crying while passing urine/ he's passing lesser than his usual quantity of urine/ has high fever/ not feeding well/ if there is family history of renal stones/ constipated.... I suggest you approach your pediatrician.
