What Causes Blood In Urine When Diagnosed With Benign Enlarged Prostate?
You have retention of urine with overflow
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have posted it seems that you had hematuria due to bleeding from superficial veins on the surface of enlarged prostate and nurse in ER tried to pass the catheter but failed and resulted in more bleeding .
Now your urine flow is poor and has to go to toilet frequently .This is mostly due to trivial trauma to urethra while passing catheter .
In a given situation you have to visit ER again and request the XXXXXXX Dr to attempt to put a catheter with due care to pass 15-20 ml anesthetic jelly and wait for 10 minutes before passing catheter .I am sure this maneuver will help to pass catheter easily and once the catheter is inserted in to bladder start irrigation to drain out all the blood clots .
Consult qualified Urologist for evaluation and Carry out all following basic investigations pertaining to Enlarged prostate
1) Urine routine and culture
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Renal Function test
4) Cardiac work up
5) Start antibiotics like Cefotaxme twice daily
Once everything settles down which may take a week I would suggest you to get endoscopic surgery of TURP for resection of prostate done at earliest .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
