Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,
My father is having prostrate problem and is on cathedral for past two weeks and since yesterday he is having problems. Yesterday he was bleeding while passing urine and clots were visible and we showed it to doc he and he just changed the cathedral and gave a medicine taramex 500 for bleeding to stop. the bleeding has stopped but today since afternoon he was urinating but the urine was not passing through the pipe and was coming out .. We have shown it to d doc and the doc said it was choked and changed the cathedral around 9.30 pm . but now again it looks like the urine has stopped as the bag has not filled yet and there is little redness and also some clot or puss like thing in d pipe . Is DAT puss like thing normal?
Note: biopsy is to done on 24th Nov 2014 and after the reports operation will be done . what should we do? Should we wait till then and that puss like thing is serious issue?

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic should be added.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
It seems his tube is blocked again with clots.
Tranexemic acid is good to control bleeding.
But it seems there is some pathology which has made the prostate more fragile, and small amount of clot is still there.
If I was his treating doctor, I would have certainly added an antibiotic as prophylaxis for infection, till waiting for biopsy to be done.
I should have preferred inject able tranexemic acid and antibiotic.
You can consult with his treating doctor about my views.
For complete cure we do not have any option but to wait for biopsy and its result.
Hope I have answered your query, if any thing else, you are welcome or you can close the question by rating the answer.
Good wishes.
