Question: Hi when I went to the doctor recently for a routine check up there was microscopic , moderate levels, of blood in my urine. I ended up at a urologist who felt a little alarmed at this and wants to do an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder and then the cystopscope??, but I have no symptoms and when I called my old doctor (as I moved for a job 8 months ago, so the new doctors do not have all of my medical history) she told me I have had blood in my urine for a few years. I also have alway had albumen?? in my urine, since I was 16 and I'm now 52 and still I as never told to do anything about it except drink more water. As of last year, my iron levels were fine and this year, I am slightly anemic and my B12 is a little low, but I was not asked to take iron and only to pick up some B12 at the pharmacy. Should I actually be worried?
Oh yes, I do not smoke, only drink alcohol moderately, and I am allergic to iodine. I am about 30 lbs overweight, post menopausal, and am back riding my bicycle in spin class. I took tome off from my usual exercising over the past 2 years for a myriad of reasons, non pertaining to my health. I eat very healthy, lots of vegis, little red meat, low fat, no sodas, no fast food. I know this may sound too good, but it's all true. Whole foods gets a lot of my money each week.
