Her CBC was done also. Her WBC was high at 12.7, Platlets High at 390, neutriphils (absolute) high at 9.8, Cholesterol is high at 184 and triglicerides at 90.
She is 17 years old, and has been fighting infections for over a year. She has a lymph node that needed biopsied with a needle and it came out ok. This lymph node in her neck still stays swollen. When she went for the bloodwork, she was on antibiotics for 7 days for a double ear infection, but prior to this she was on another Antibiotic for 7 days because of a throat infection. She was getting strep throat all the time. What is your opinion on the blood work results. Thank you
Hematuria(blood in urine) may be due to many reasons
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Hematuria(blood in urine) may be due to many reasons like urinary tract infection(UTI),calculus in genitourinary tract, glomerulonephritis, tumour etc.
Your daughter need proper clinical examination and further investigations.
Hematuria may be due to infection in your daughter's case as WBC count is also raised.
Other investigations include random blood sugar, liver function test, renal function test, ultrasound of abdomen.
Ultrasound of abdomen can exclude many possibilities.
CT scan of abdomen can be done if needed.
Proper treatment depend upon findings.
Other findings like platelet and lipid level are normal.

She told me she started her menstrual cycle the day of the blood test, would this make her test have those readings?
Also if she has been on Antibiotics for couple weeks, would this not clear up the WBC in her blood work? Im a little confused why her WBC would be up if she was on Antibiotics for a couple weeks already. Do you recommend a specialist or wait for other tests? And if so, what kind of specialist?
Thank you
She may repeat urine test.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
There are chances of mixing of sample due to menstruation. She may need repeat urine test.
She may need further tests like nitrite and leukocyte esterase test for confirming UTI.But UTI should have excess pus cells in urine.
Ultrasound is also important.
She need nephrologist consultation.
Antibiotics doesn't clear all microbes.Sensitivity to antibiotics varies.Antibiotics are not effective to all groups of bacteria.
