What Causes Blood In Urine?
Question: I am 88 years old and have bladder cancer in remission. No pain or problems, but I do not use a catheter as it bothers me. Hence I urinate into a container many times a night and day.
A few days ago I started to get blood in my urine. Color of urine is now dark red accompanied by some tissue. The tissue tends to block the blood flow and a few hours ago urination stopped because of complete tissue blockage. By pressing in my stomach strongly, a sudden surge of blood and tissue exited. By drinking plenty of water the dark urine and tissue free flows again.
Help ! What is the problem and what should I do this labor day holiday weekend when all doctor's offices are closed. I also fear for a lot of blood loss.
Answer ASAP, please.

Brief Answer:
Needs urgent attention
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
In a bladder cancer patient, bleeding in urine is a serious symptom. It may be harbinger of recurrence.
I would recommend seeking urgent care, from ER if required. Probably you will need catheterisation and bladder wash, later cystoscopy.
For now, please drink lot of fluids.
Hope this helps.
