Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: Blood in urine. Not a gusher, but very persistent for several. No pain

I have had this once before, but not as persistent. That was about 6 months ago and it didn't last more than a couple of hours, then went away.

Brief Answer:
Hematuria

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking.I have been carefully through your question. In hematuria your kidney or other parts of urinary tract allow blood cells into urine. Some causes are 1-urinary tract infection 2-Kidney infection 3-A bladder or kidney stone 4-cancer 5-medication 6-Kindey disease etc

To find a cause for urinary bleeding, the following tests and exams play a key role:
1- Physical exam, which includes a discussion of your medical history
2- Urine tests
3- Imaging tests. Often, an imaging test is required to find the cause of hematuria.
4- Cystoscopy

Sometimes, the cause of urinary bleeding may not be found. In that case, your doctor may recommend regular follow-up tests, especially if you have risk factors for bladder cancer, such as smoking, exposure to environmental toxins or a history of radiation therapy.

Hope this ansewr your question.Kindly Dr Esmeralda

The bleeding has abated. This event occurred late Saturday night, when no physician was available. For future reference, should this recur is there anything I can do myself to control the bleeding?
