Question: blood in urine. small amount at beginning of voiding, then clears. no pain age 81 male retired veterinarian

Thanks for query .
Slight bleeding before voiding in a man who has undergone TURP 12 years ago could be due to recurrence of enlarged prostate and needs to be investigated .

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) Are you taking any blood thinner like Aspirin ?

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy)

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Till then take antibiotic like Cefixime and Nitrofurantoin twice daily
