What Causes Bluish Blister On Lips?

default
Posted on Sat, 9 Apr 2016
Question: A bluish-clear bump/blister appeared just inside my upper lip 2 weeks ago. I don't recall any lip injury in the few days before it appeared. It began as aprox 8mm and looked like a blister but felt like a small round lump. It has reduced in diameter by about half in the last 2 weeks and the color is fading. It is hard to feel it at all now. Should I consult an oral surgeon or just hold off a bit longer to see if it goes away?

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

From your description and what I could see in the picture ,it might be a mucocele ,a cyst that tend to occur on the inner surface of the lower lip.
They tend to go an their own or to rupture and are harmless.
Since it is getting progressively smaller on it's own, I would suggest to give it some more time.
It doesn't seem to be something of concern. If it doesn't seem to go away on few weeks you can get it checked with your doctor.

Hope it helps,
Let me know if you have any question.
