Question: I had uretal stent 2weeks ago put in for an ancient stone that is lodged to the side of the ureter just below the kidney. Pain isn't unbearable but even though blood has been present a few times it clears up pretty quickly and there have been some chunks of blood that showed in the urine up after being constipated and straining too hard. This weekend I have some pretty rough chills but no fever. Is this something to worry about? I am urinating clear no fog no smell no blood. I am 66 years old.
Brief Answer:
get CT abdomen
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD
I am going to try to answer your query.
There are two main possibilities here.
One is that the pain and bleeding is due to another stone. This possibility is always there.
However, I think you need to consider more seriously the second possibility that the stent that has been introduced in the ureter is causing the trouble. Sometimes the catheter is not very well fitted despite the best surgical techniques. This allows the catheter to move, and when it does, the pain and bleeding can result.
I would suggest meeting your urologist again. Meanwhile, try to get a ct scan of the abdomen done.
I hope that helps.
Best of luck
