What Causes Boils On Chin After Shaving?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
details below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the images attached and can think of two probable causes
Furuncle/boil- Bacterial infection of hair follicle. Shaving the area improperly or ingrown hair may lead to boils.
Cystic acne
In the pic surrounding area looks quite red and inflammed.
My suggestion would be
To do warm water compresses twice in a day. Avoid squeezing or manipulating the area.
Apply topical antibiotic like mupirocin or fusidic acid cream twice in a day.
If no response is seen in five to seven days, start a course of oral antibiotics that you are not allergic to. I prescribe amoxycillin clavulinic acid, cephalosporin group, doxycycline, minocycline etc for similar lesions.
In cystic acne apart from these measures an intralesional steroid injection gives wonderful results.
Hope this helped.
Please feel free to write back for any other doubt.
