What Causes Breakthrough Bleeding Every Three Weeks While On HRT?

Question: Hi, I am a 71 year old female, healthy and fit and have been on HRT for 4 years. I have been getting breakthru bleeding about every 3 weeks - much like a period, but very minimal. Should I stop the HRT? thank you.

Hello There !
Thank you for asking Health Care Magic. I have gone through your question and i understand your concern.

You take pills HRT for 4 years right ?
You have not been bleeding before , the bleeding started 3 weeks ago, right?

The bleeding may be related to HRT or not, so a check up is needed .

Before you do any changes in your therapy i would suggest to contact your local doctor to do a gynecologic examination..
.This will rule out any organic problem of your uterus ( tumor ..), after the local doctor make it sure that there is no problem with your uterus, you will discuss about any possible changes in your HRT( low the dosage and see how the bleeding goes,or stop it.).
