What Causes Breathlessness After Intense Physical Activities?
Question: I have acute aasthma problem. Normally I am fine but when I undergo some physical stress (like walking more than 3-4kms, jogging more than 15mins, indulging in active sports like tennis or basketball), I gasp for breathing and have to take the inhaler puffs. When exposed to cold environment, I tend to breathe heavily. So how should I confront this? Should I keep on carrying inhalers all the time? Should not I expect my condition to enhance anytime?
Brief Answer:
At present, which inhaler you are taking?

Brief Answer:
You are not taking appropriate treatment for asthma.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are not taking appropriate treatment for asthma and this is the reason why you are having symptoms.
Levolin is having levosalbutamol. It is rescue drug and should not be take regularly.
Best treatment for asthma is long acting inhaled bronchodilator (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Treatment of asthma is based on severity. And to know the severity, you should get done PFT (pulmonary function test).
So please let me know
1. Have you ever undergone PFT?
Please reply me answer of above asked question, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I asked that because I got lot of online patients suffering from allergy from banglore.
I think the environment of banglore is not good. It must be having high allergen load.
It's good that you are having office job.
But it is better to wear face mask when going out to prevent dust and other allergen.
Hey, I forgot two ask about inhaler.
Are you using meter dose inhaler or dry powder inhaler?
Both are different with different effectiveness.
So please let me know this.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX
Yeah I know the procedures. But its also true that most of the time I forget to rinse my mouth after taking the inhaler. I will keep that in mind this time. And yes I have taken nasal spray also (I was prescribed Duonase before).

Brief Answer:
OK. Then start according two my advice.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
It is very important topic rinse mouth after every time you use MDI. This is to prevent drug deposition in throat and subsequent throat infection.
So rinse your mouth all the time. Don't forget this.
And since you are also knowing nasal spray technique, start all medicines, inhaler and nasal spray prescribed by me.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
