Brief Answer:
get a clinical examination at time of symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
1. If the shortness of breath always comes on exertion? If it never comes at rest? If it is associated with cough/ wheeze etc?
2. If the breathlessness is definitely coming only on exertion and not on rest or there are associated symptoms, then you must take it seriously. A chest x-ray or blood tests will not pick up every thing. We normally ask our patients to undergo a clinical examination at time of symptoms. This will pick up any bronchospasm which can be transient or reversible and can be best picked up on clinical examination.
3. I would get a cardiac ultrasound (ECHO) and Pulmonary function test (PFT) in all such cases in my practice.
4. I would keep anxiety as last possibility after ruling out all organic causes.
Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder

Could it be serious like a fatal thing that is causing this? And why wouldnt the hospital do these tests if these things were happening

Brief Answer:
please see details

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
1. The seriousness of this issue is not clearly reflected in the information we exchanged here. The clinical examination is an important part of it. Most of the decisions taken by us are based on clinical examination and circumstances. At times physician do not advise cardiac ultrasound if the clinical examination of heart /ECG/xray chest, all three are normal. Possibility of a heart disease is low in such scenarios.
2. The clinical examination at time of having symptoms is foremost thing. If supposedly a patient has episodic bronchospasm and we do not examine him at that time, we may miss it totally. Even pulmonary function tests may miss it.
3. An upset stomach with a lot of distension can give rise to breathlessness at times, however without examination at that time, it is impossible to pin point a single cause.
Hope this explains my opinion about the problem.
Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir.
1. Yes, this may also be an allergy that will manifest only on time of exposure,
2. Yes, the allergies may happen suddenly also.
3. Anxiety can manifest like that but there are a few facts. 1. I always keep anxiety as my last possibility and first rule out the organic causes. Because missing anxiety for a few days is much less harmful than missing an organic illness. 2. Do you really have a reason to worry, be anxious or remain stressful? If yes, then this possibility can be looked into but as a second possibility.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder

I think the shorteness of breath could be from anxiety but that doesnt explain the tight throat feeling. This looks bad to me

Brief Answer:
please consult a throat specialist.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
The pic you have attached with the question shows your throat to be congested. warm saline gargles may help in such a condition.
I would recommend a consultation with your GP or Throat specialist on priority. This possibly explains tightness of your throat.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
