In general the description you have given is commonly is seen in the condition known as "Melanonychia". This is one of the commonest condition with pigmented streak on the nail.
Even then to fully confirm my diagnosis as well to reassure you completely I very humbly request you to kindly upload few good resolution pictures of the nails.

Hello,
Welcome again and thanks for your swift follow up.
If you are not able to send the picture by the uploading service then you can send it on the

with subject " Attention Dr Sanjay Kumar Kanodia".
Even then let em reassure you that you as per the description of the line it is not at all related to melanoma of nail. So do not worry regarding the possibility of melanoma in your case.
In melanoma of nail the line is quite broader than 2 mm. It is very much dark blackish brown and extends deep up to nail fold and nail root. As per your description the nail is partially involved, less 2 mm broad, brown in color and is not extending deep up to nail root or nail fold. SO just relax regarding the melanoma.
There is also no relation of cholesterol medication in the same. You can continue your cholesterol medication.
Hope these information will relax your mind. I will be glad to guide you any further.

No relationship with melanoma; just relax.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome again and thanks a lot for posting the pictures. I beg your pardon to ask for the same but in dermatology it is really very important to see the condition personally or by pictures for final confirmation.
After analyzing the pictures with diligence I reassure you completely that the condition is simple melanonychia. I am firm and confident regarding my diagnosis. There is no need to go for biopsy of the area. Even if you are still worried then a simple "Dermascopy" (a magnifying view of the area by an instrument called Dermascope) by a dermatologist is sufficient to confirm it.
Your pigmentation is very much faint and not at all in close relation with melanoma.
Just relax and do not worry regarding the possibility of melanoma.
I hope these informations will relax your mind. I will be glad to guide you any further.

Sorry I am asking to many questions but I need to relax and get my life again after 4m of reading....KR
This isn't a yeast or fungal infection either.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum again. You are most welcome to ask as many questions as you want. You are on the forum to take guidance and we are here to give our best expert opinion on the same.
As I said in my previous mail that this is simple melanonychia only. All the conditions of your type of pigmentation are designated as melanonychia. We can not predict the time period of resolution of the pigmentation. There is no need of any medication for the same.
This isn't a yeast or fungal infection either. In yeast or fungal infection we se the change of architecture of nail plate and nail bed. The color change in fungal infection of nail is greyish white and not brownish.
I again reassure you to not to worry regarding the possibility of melanoma.
I hope these informations will relax your mind. I will be glad to guide you any further.
