What Causes Brown Spots In Semen?
Per-rectal examination and investigations- by Urologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query albeit small and specific.
The presence of brown spots in semen may indicate a condition called hematospermia, simply meaning blood in the semen. The probable causes at this age are due to prostate problems - congestion, prostatitis or tumour. And other causes can be related to infection in uro-genital tract and rare causes related to the conditions of the urogenital tract.
Therefore I would request you a few tests first to confirm whether there is Hematospermia or not.
- Semen analysis and culture and sensitivity if there is infection present.
- Per-rectal digital (finger) tests by a General Surgeon or preferably an Urologist is very very important as this information can not be achieved by any of the tests.
- Routine tests of blood, and urine.
- Blood PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen)
- Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen, particularly of the Uro-genital System and of the scrotum.
Your local doctor can help you order the test. These tests will indicate whether you need further evaluation and treatment or just have to be '' wait and watch '' policy.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications if you feel there is a gap of communication.
