default
Posted on Fri, 9 Oct 2015
Question: i've been doing a lot of travelling lately. About a month ago I woke up with a HUGE bruise behind my knee (no real pain & no did not go to doctor), however, my leg does seem to pain now. Right now as I'm typing my knee is sore and behind the knee is as well (on a scale of 1 to 10 pain is about a 3). I'm 55 - i am a little worried about DVT.

Brief Answer:
need investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hi
it seems that most probably you have either blood clotting disorder or bakers cyst.
In bakers cysts - fluids from knee capsule leaks and collects behind the knee joints.
In your age group bakers cysts is common.
DVT may be a possibility but again venous doppler ultrasound after clinical exam is required.
I advised you to see a rheumatologist as soon as possible and - get your knee checked.
Hope this will help
Take care
