What Causes Bruised Lump On Knee After An Injury?
Question: 2 weeks ago I tripped and fell in my kitchen. I'm not sure how I hurt the front of my thigh, but I developed a bruise top to knee and wrapped almost all the way around thigh, plus lump of about 6in by4in. The bruise drifted down and went away but the lump is still left and a little warn around the edge. What is this and how do I treat it?
Brief Answer:
Hematoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
The lump you have 2 weeks after injury is most likely a hematoma. Due to small veins rupture, blood has appeared under the skin. If a hematoma is large enough it wont disappear by itself. Moreover the blood collection can get infected and turn into an abscess.
That is why I suggest you to consult general surgeon. Soft tissues ultrasound should be done and hematoma drained.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
You can wait with it 6 days. Just have it under observation. If the pain will appear along with hardness and swelling you should not wait any longer. Otherwise 6 days waiting is fine.
