What Causes Bruising And Swelling In The Leg After Injury?

Question: Hi there..I had a bad accident and fell on my leg, had 30 staples ...theres a large bruise on my calf by wound. swollen and lots of pressure. Ive been icing and keeping off it, Its been two weeks since my accident?....
Brief Answer:
Bruise and swelling are common and take time in healing.
Detailed Answer:
Hi , I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic surgeon.
I have seen the picture and read your description. this kind of wound can lead to swelling and bruising in the surrounding area and these may last for several weeks.
If the pain is not much and you are able to walk comfortably on the leg , then there would be no cause for worry. At this stage , 2 weeks after injury, Icing may not help much but active exercises like walking and moving your foot up and down will help.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
