What Causes Bruising Around Anus And Pain In Tailbone?

Question: My wife has had an emergency C section during child birth. Since then her iron was 7. After IV and needles it is way up at 350. Now she has bruising either side of her anus and tail bone pain ? What could be causing all this?

I believe that 7 is the level of haemoglobin which is different from the second value that you have mentioned. It could be for Serum iron is the measure of amount of circulating iron that is bound to transferrin. Its normal value in women is 50 to 170 μg/dL and a high level could indicate hemolytic anemia. On the other hand, the level that you mention, could also be for TIBC (total iron binding capacity) where 240 to 450 mcg/dL is the normal level and it is elevated in iron deficiency anemia. I belive that it is the latter that you are talking about. Please confirm after checking the reports.
